Not to toot my own horn or anything
But I just wrote the best short story I’ve ever written for English class. And nobody even died! This is a day for the history books.
(Did I just use the phrase ‘toot my own horn?’ Oh god, I’m old.)
I am so annoyed.

Lost
It isn’t always a bad thing.
Sometimes you need to be lost, to run so far away from your troubles that you can’t see them anymore, let alone remember what they were.
Sometimes, lost helps you be found.
Sometimes, if you quietly fold up and vanish into the unknown, you can find truth.
Sometimes lost is the happiest, realest thing there is.

There’s something so beautiful about going on a bike ride in the suburbs and stumbling on a vast stretch of undeveloped land.
Maybe someday, something will be built there.
Maybe someday, the trees will be gone.
But right now, the land is free and gorgeous and wild. It bows to no one.

The blue and pink bleed into purple as I scrub my hands clean of the words that gave me such strength.
Words have power.
But all it takes is a little heat and suds before the once-inspiring words fade away into the regular peachy hue of my skin.
It’s almost funny how easy it is to destroy something so strong.

Looking out the window
I can’t actually see anything
Because my glasses are somewhere else
Everyone’s left their Christmas lights on and through the colorful blurs I can see a hint of stars and sky.
The sky is so vast and huge, and my future is so large and imposing that I just want to curl up in my old green blanket that smells faintly of cornmeal and refuse to come out.
I’m too small to be okay...

Anyone want a Christmas Card?
I know I love getting mail, but I hardly ever get anything. Given that it’s the holiday season, if anybody wants one, I will send them a christmas card (or any other card if you don’t do christmas). Just leave your address in my ask and I’ll send you something nice as soon as I can!
Happy Holidays!
